Children may need glasses for different reasons. Wearing glasses in early childhood helps ensure normal vision development in children with vision problems. Untreated vision problems can affect a child's ability to learn and concentrate in school.
Parents and caregivers who have any concerns about their child's vision should take them to an ophthalmologist or optometrist for an eye exam. Pediatricians also tend to screen children for vision problems during regular visits. However, vision screening is not the same as a complete eye exam.
The glasses should fit correctly without bending. Frame replacement or adjustments may be required as your child grows. Their eyes should be in the center of the lens.
